‘Twas the night before Christmas,
In the Senate and House,
Health reform creatures
Were giddy and soused.
The horses were traded,
And promises made,
Nelson and Landrieu
Were handsomely paid.
Some will be winners,
And others will lose.
The majority strategy?
Scare and confuse!
The conference is coming
Where sausage is made,
Which plan will survive?
Neither! We prayed.
A government option
And sugarplum fees,
Isn’t the cure
Of our health care disease.
“Now Harry! Now Nancy!
On Dodd and on Baucus!”
With a wink and a twinkle,
They held tight their caucus.
The Dems all agreed
One item must fall.
Now dash away! Dash away!
Tort reform all!
Then with a crash
Through the chimney that night,
Popped out Barack
With a smile of delight.
He promised reform
Turning debt into wealth.
The better plan may be
To pray for good health.
He raced through the chambers,
Looking merry and droll
Giving Dems sparkling diamonds
To the GOP - coal.
In a flash he was gone,
And away sailed his sleigh.
Why do most of us feel
This is not our best day?
The Whistleblower wishes everyone
joy and peace for the holidays.
joy and peace for the holidays.
Christmas - healthcare poems everywhere I go this season, this one is the best so far!! Good work - did you write this? Can I share it?
ReplyDeleteYes, the work is quite original,so the mistakes are mine. Feel free to spread it far and wide. Would appreciate an honorable mention, if you share.

Sad commentary, but great poem!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear,
ReplyDeleteI wish you good cheer!
LOL, best said with a poem! This is great.
ReplyDeleteNo way do I think healthcare should remain as it is today or has been for some time BUT "careful good things don't get lost with change", ? Edmund Burke said something like that and something to consider.
A few years ago, during Bill Clinton, I remember noticing a crackdown on fraud and attempts to address other issues.. Having read articles during that time regarding doctors who were ripping off the government I thought how people using medicaid were safer than the rest of us. Finally I thought that some of the medical troubles could be altered by pictures of the crooks on the front page of the paper headed to jail. If that happens it is my guess others might get straight. Some of the doctors were really running up huge bills. I remember noticing that some of the doctors were shrink os and curious what kind of disorder is that? Finally one day I realized that the mental profession is possibly one to investigate thinking there is no way to x ray and prove..
What would help is to have some idea how to evaluate these medical people early on knowing some of them are good, some crazy, some incompetent and so on. Once I read that a doctor carved his initials in a woman following a c section.
Dr. Kirsch, any ideas what to look for and when to run?
Patricia
Pat, if you espy the phrase 'initial carving' in the consent form - run!
